F4 Drivers In Action: Mount Campaigns for a Cause

Blake Mount of Denver, Colorado, raced for more than series points and prize winnings during the Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda season debut at Homestead-Miami Speedway April 8-9. The returning JDX Racing pilot used his platform to bring one special fan closer to the action.

Mount competed with the name Ella and the No. 5 in a playful powderpuff purple inscription above his own driver identification.

“Ella is a teenager in my community who was recently diagnosed with lung cancer,” said Mount.

“It's easy to get caught up in our own lives, racing, sponsors, without considering how it might be harder someone else. I wanted to take a step back and truly put all my good energy toward Ella in her fight. Doing so allowed me to pursue the F4 Championship in a new light, and with a teammate right by my side through it all. I told her I was going to fight to be successful this season as she fights to be successful in her battle.”

Mount said that Ella follows his race progress with live timing and scoring from the series website and updates made on his Instagram.

Mount continued. “We fought hard in our first round, but none of us are fighting as hard as her. I’m honored to cross the finish line with her name next to mine.”
