As the FIA Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda gears up for its third season, Jay Howard Driver Development confirmed its second F4 driver of the season. Wyatt Brichacek of Denver, Colorado, will join the team for its 2018 championship campaign.
Braden Eves of Gahanna, Ohio, announced his return to Jay Howard Driver Development in January.
"The Jay Howard Driver Development team is happy to have Wyatt Brichacek as our first rookie driver to sign for this year’s F4 season," said Team Principal Jay Howard. "Wyatt tested with our team during the summer months in 2017 and immediately showed great pace. As a team, we all knew we wanted to have Wyatt on the program for the Championship. We have high expectations for him this year."
Sixteen-year-old Brichacek, originally of Noblesville, Indiana, started driving karts with Colorado Junior Karting Club in 2009. International Karting Federation (IKF) Regional and National Championships followed. He moved to cars during the 2014-15 season with National Auto Sport Association (NASA) and Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Formula First. Brichacek broadened his skills further in the Lucas Oil Formula Car Race Summer Series and Skip Barber Racing School Winter Series alongside testing in F4 with Jay Howard’s team last year.
“I am very excited to be making the move to F4 U.S. for the 2018 season. It's been a goal of mine since the series debuted two years ago," said Brichacek. " I think it is a great fit with the Jay Howard race team. After a few testing sessions with them, everything just seemed to flow. Jay has a lot of experience and I am sure he will lead me in the right direction to further my career. I am looking forward to the 2108 season, and I am confident it will be a successful one."
