James Raven of Portsmouth, England, confirmed his seat with DEForce Racing for the Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda Andy Scriven Memorial Race weekend at Virginia International Racway April 27-29. The young English driver will pilot the blue, white and neon green No. 12 DEForce Racing machine.
"I’m really excited to get the season started at VIR on Friday with DEForce Racing," said Raven. "I've had great experience competing and testing with the team. I know we’ll be competitive straight away. The test at MSR Houston in January went really well for us, so hopefully we can carry that on throughout the year."
Previously to racing in F4, Raven raced in the UK Formula Ford Championship where in 2014, finished as Vice Champion and won the Formula Ford Festival. Raven also holds lap records at Silverstone and Rockingham.
"We are happy to have James join our program," said DEForce Racing team owner Ernesto Martínez. "We have a solid team to win the championship. We hope to have someone fill our second seat from Road Atlanta on."
Thirty-eight F4 U.S. drivers are registered to for the VIR opening weekend. The drivers will participate in a promoter test day on Thursday, followed by two practices on Friday. Qualifying and Race 1 will be held on Saturday, and the weekend will conclude on Sunday with the final two rounds of competition.
