Top Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda team Abel Motorsports is charging full-throttle toward another intense weekend of F4 competition, this time at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. It’s the season’s third weekend of F4 action, with three 30-minute races on tap and a full field of strong drivers to deal with.
Abel Motorsports, based in Louisville, Kentucky, will field young contender Jacob Abel. In his Onroak Automotive machine powered by Honda and riding on Pirelli racing slicks, for the tripleheader F4 weekend. Abel is primed to battle for victory at Mid-Ohio.
“Mid Ohio is one of my home tracks, for sure” noted Abel. The 17-year-old ace had two top ten finishes in F4 action last season at what is one of America’s iconic natural-terrain road courses. “I’m really looking forward to Mid Ohio and getting back into our F4 race car. Hopefully we can run up front there, and challenge for a win. I have a ton of seat time at Mid-Ohio, and it’s one of my favorite tracks. It’s a big advantage to have been there before.”
Last year, Abel, driver of the No. 22 Abel Motorsports F4 car, finished 24th in the highly-competitive Championship. He is currently 12th in the 2018 standings. So far this season, Abel has earned three top-10 finishes (7th, 7th, 8th) over the first two weekends of F4 action.
