Young veteran Jacob Loomis returns alongside team leader Jacob Abel for Pitt International Race Complex series debut-
Leading open-wheel development team Abel Motorsports, of Louisville, Kentucky, is turning the dog days of summer into incredible days of growth.
Fresh off a race weekend of learning and growing at Mid Ohio, the team is preparing its pair of Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda Onroak race cars for the F4 series’ debut at Pitt Race, about half an hour north of the Steel City.
The Abel squad hauled immediately to Pitt Race on Sunday night, testing their F4 machines after wrapping up their most recent race weekend at Honda’s home track. And for the first time in some time, the Abel F4 team is at full strength: young talent Jacob Loomis will return alongside team leader Jacob Abel for the weekend’s triple-header.The team’s focus is on reaching the podium for the first time this season.
“I’m looking forward to it. I’m excited to get back in the F4 car and put it on the sharp end of the grid. I can’t wait to get onto the track at Pitt Race. Everyone’s going to have a clean slate, since it’s a new track on our schedule”, commented Abel. Abel currently sits ninth in the Championship with his teammate Loomis in tenth.
For his part, Loomis is chomping at the bit to go racing again after missing the F4 Mid-Ohio weekend.
“I’m grateful Abel Motorsports is giving me the opportunity to come back to the team," Loomis said. " I hated having to miss the last race weekend. Having a two-car team really helps us both. We share each other’s data and video and it helps our performance. I’m really hoping for that first podium of the season.”
For the team, it’ll be an especially pressure-packed event. Abel Motorsports is one of the first teams to step up and acquire one of the brand-new F3 Americas Championship cars and will have that car on the Pitt Race grid for the Series’ debut rounds this weekend.
“Running three cars in two different series puts extra pressure on our guys”, noted team principal Bill Abel, “but I know they’re up to the task. We’ll be ready to go racing!”
Abel Motorsports is competing in multiple open-wheel developmental championships in 2018, the team’s second year of professional racing operations. Abel Motorsports has just debuted its official team website, www.abelmotorsports.com, and is accepting inquiries about driving opportunities in several different categories of cars.
