Ryan MacDermid Jumps to the F4 Program with Alliance Racing Sponsored by Gas Monkey Energy

Rookie driver joins Will Edwards, Chandler Horton and Dylan Tavella in growing program

With the new year comes a new program for Canadian driver Ryan MacDermid, who has inked a deal with Alliance Racing Sponsored by Gas Monkey Energy to compete in the 2019 Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda. As the fourth driver confirmed for the Indianapolis-based squad, MacDermid brings his colorful resumes of karting race wins and championships to the program as he looks to impress in his rookie season.

"We are really pleased that Ryan MacDermid and his family have trusted us with their transition from karts to cars," explained Team Owner and President, Toney Edwards. "When we found out that he was interested in F4, we immediately began conversations and it took very little time to come to an agreement. Ryan has had a very successful karting career and we can't wait to assist him in his efforts to be a star in the open-wheel world."

As part of the Alliance Racing Sponsored by Gas Monkey program, MacDermid joins veteran drivers Will Edwards, Chandler Horton and Dylan Tavella as a confirmed four car, and possibly more, effort in 2019.

"I have been interested in moving to cars for quite some time and this is a terrific opportunity," explained MacDermid. "I tested a few times in the past with some different teams but am committed to a full-time effort in 2019. I want to follow in the footsteps of some other Canadians who have made it in motorsports as I look to climb the ladder to the top. Also, joining a team with drivers that have competed in the series in the past is great for my learning experience as we will all be able to share video and data to improve as a complete program."

MacDermid will begin his full-time F4 career in January as he will join Alliance Racing at the Formula Pro USA Western Championship Series. In the effort to gain as much experience before the start of the F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda series, MacDermid will see action at the Sonoma Raceway in January and the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California in February. Continuing with his development, MacDermid will take part in a winter and spring test program that will see him on track for several test days before the first national event in April at the famed Road Atlanta facility.

Edwards continued, "2019 is a year of growth for us and we are continuing to prepare and ensure that we are 100% ready. We have hired a great engineer and have solid driver coaches. We have great partners and we now have four confirmed drivers. With the competition in the F4 program growing each and every year, we feel that we are prepared to provide our drivers with a championship caliber outfit that can challenge for race wins and podium results at each and every event weekend. We are welcoming Ryan to the team with open arms and can't wait to get started."
