January 23, 2023 – Continuing to add to their multi-program driver lineup, the Jay Howard Driver Development efforts are pleased to welcome Tanner DeFabis to the Indianapolis-based squad. Set to make his debut in the 2023 F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda, DeFabis joins the championship-winning program as he looks to gain knowledge and race experience in his quest to top the result sheets.
“Tanner has been in karting for quite some time and now has the opportunity to begin his climb up the North American motorsports ladder,” explained Jay Howard. “Choosing us for our race-winning experience and driver development, and advancement program, Tanner is in good hands. Tanner will receive the same race-winning equipment that propelled Lochie Huges to the championship in 2022, and we look forward to making him a future motorsports star.”
“I’m very excited to sign with the team and become a part of the JHDD family,” explained DeFabis. “Transitioning from karting to race cars has been amazing, and I’m looking forward to my first F4 season. I can’t wait to be with the entire team in New Orleans for the official pre-season test and am excited to get my F4 campaign underway.”
Competing throughout the Midwest, DeFabis has been a consistent front-runner and podium winner in the TaG classes. Receiving his first taste of open-wheel action late in 2022, DeFabis completed a couple of test days for JHDD as he evaluated options for the 2023 race season.
Howard continued, “We welcome Tanner to our program with open arms. He has shown steady progression in testing and what we have learned from him already, we know that he will be a threat as the 2023 season rolls on.”
With the first event of the 2023 season just over two months away, DeFabis and the rest of the Jay Howard Driver Development effort will continue testing through January and February. The 2023 F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda season will kick off over the March 9-12 weekend at NOLA Motorsports Park in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Stay tuned for more news coming from the JHDD program soon.
