Team Forms Alliance with Scuderia Buell to Advance Drivers from Karting to F4 U.S.
BRIGHTON, Mich. (November 13, 2023) – Michigan-based US NG Racing has announced the purchase of a new Ligier JS F422 chassis and their intention to join the Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda (F4 U.S.) in 2024. Operating as a single-car team in the FIA-certified F4 U.S., US NG Racing will partner with Scuderia Buell in the Ligier JS F4 Series to develop their own ladder, helping racers progress from karting all the way to F4 U.S.
US NG Racing will enter F4 U.S. as a formidable force, bringing both a wealth of knowledge and skills to their F4 U.S. effort. The organization will draw on the knowledge of Team Principal, Marcelo Ponti, and his experience in both Formula 1 and Formula 3 racing, including his time as a research and development engineer for the Modena Team.
With a robust support structure in place, one of US NG Racing’s top priorities is creating an environment where motivated drivers have all the resources they need to contend for the championship. A skilled chassis engineer, two data analysts and an experienced driver coach are among the key personnel building that structure.
With joint headquarters in US NG’s home state of Michigan and Scuderia Buell’s home in Daytona Beach, Fla., US NG will begin a testing program as soon as they take delivery of their new Ligier JS F422.
The FIA Formula 4 Championship was created in 2014 to provide a globally-recognized, affordable step between karting and the FIA Formula Regional Championship that allowed drivers to compare themselves to the best young talent from around the world. SCCA Pro Racing launched the United States contingent, F4 U.S., in 2016, with Formula Regional Americas Championship (FR Americas) following shortly thereafter in 2018. In 2024, Parella Motorsports Holdings (PMH) will add the Ligier JS F4 Series as an additional step below F4 U.S. Utilizing the first generation Ligier JS F4 chassis, the series is designed as a budget-friendly option for karters looking to get their first experience in a single-seater racecar.
US NG Racing will make their F4 U.S. debut during the championship’s 2024 season opener at NOLA Motorsports Park, April 11-14.
