F4 U.S. Marks First International Event Since 2017 with Return to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park

BOWMANVILLE, Ontario, Canada (August 29, 2024) – Formula 4 United States Championship presented by Mosport Karting Centre (F4 U.S.) drivers made their first laps of the weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) on Thursday. With three test sessions to kick off the weekend, Daniel Quimby (No. 24 Cruise America / MIR Raceline / FIJI Airways / GalvanizeIns Ligier JS F422) paced the first and final test of the day with a 1:20.987 and 1:19.985 lap, respectively. Nicolas Stati (No. 15 AGI Sport Ligier JS F422) was fastest in the second session with a 1:20.508 lap.

At the end of the day, this is what they had to say:

Nicolas Stati: “It's quite a cool track; a bit of a roller coaster of a ride with lots of fast corners and also some very slow technical corners. My favorite part is probably the uphill double right. I feel like it's a really challenging corner. If you get it right, it can be quite rewarding, but if you get it wrong, you could find yourself in a difficult situation. Qualifying is going to be really important this weekend; if you don't qualify well, trying to overtake will be difficult. There are very few overtaking opportunities.”

Daniel Quimby: “It's a good track—fast, really technical. You need to have a really good car here. I think the biggest challenge this weekend is going to be the back straight. Trying to break that tow to your competitors is going to be quite tough, but if you can get that on, I think you should be pretty good.”

Connor Roberts (No. 46 ApexSpeed.com / Entropy Cellars Ligier JS F422): “It's a really fun track. It's a lot like Road Atlanta in many ways—that's my home track—with the elevation change, the speed. There’s really only one slow corner here with Turn 5. The track is fast, it's fun, it flows really well. We’ll see what kind of racing it produces, but the track has been awesome. Qualifying is going to be really important here just because of the way that the turns are structured at the end of the back straight. It's a big long sweeper, long corner, and so it's a little bit harder to pass going side by side through there.”

Lincoln Day (No. 54 MLT Motorsports Ligier JS F422): “I love the track. It's a lot of high-speed corners, which is what I need to work on, so it's perfect for me. It's really wide—I think it's going to be a really close race because of how wide it is. The scenery here is beautiful. The paddock is amazing; it's easy to get to everything. All in all, I love this track.”

Alex Crosbie (No. 41 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F422): “Canadian Tire Motorsport Park is definitely a fun one. It's pretty tricky to pick up—it's a long, fast track. Heaps of bumps, but it definitely should be a fun track for racing on. Turn 4 is really fun being so fast; Turn 8 is another fast one that’s quite fun. It'll be interesting to see what it's like racing through there.”

F4 U.S. is set to practice (10:30 a.m. ET) and qualify (1:45 p.m. ET) tomorrow, before the action kicks into high gear with racing on Saturday and Sunday. Live timing and scoring from the CTMP SpeedTour will be available throughout the weekend on the Race Monitor App. Additional news and updates from the weekend will be posted on the series’ social channels: Facebook, Instagram, and X.
